Another finished piece from the retreat: "Disconnections", oil on 3 boards (attached), 12 x 36 x 3/4 inches.
I began this piece in February at my Florida studio. It started out as a triptych, with molding paste and silver spray paint. While the paintings were drying in the courtyard, we had a south Florida rain shower- the type that pops up unexpectedly, catching people unprepared without their umbrellas. I was certainly unprepared. Little raindrop imprints appeared in the silver paint. It was not good. I had a slight meltdown, to be honest. Those poor paintings, victims of my forgetfulness! I regained my composure later, deciding I would sand them down to the molding paste and develop a new plan for them. I am quite pleased with the result.
