"Seven League Moon" by Kristin Baker
Baker's work is influenced by auto racing. Using non-traditional techniques and materials, she works in large scale, applying spray gloss to a PVC surface. The paintings are often curved, mimicking the form of a racetrack. Her work speaks of spontaneity and tension. The contrasting elements of control and chaos are quite appealing to me.
This painting shown is a compositional departure from the other works for which Baker is known, and I wanted to feature it here. The colors are particularly luminous. The overall vibe of this piece is more sensuous than her race car abstractions.
