Using purple is a departure for me but I wanted to experiment with soft, sensuous, cool lavenders. I don't know if it's the gray weather, my general mood lately, or simply the desire to expand my color horizons, but there you go. Paintings of thistle, orchid, periwinkle and lavender are visually and emotionally restful.
This one may be finished on the top.
I need to take a break and think about it.
The painting below will receive a light sanding and probably one more layer of color, much like what's seen here.
When the tops are complete and dry, the plan is to paint the sides metallic silver. I've run out of acrylic silver, so oils will do.
